real life lovebirds jenny lewis & johnathan rice got together to capitalize on the popularity (it’s totally cute!) of boy-girl duos (she & him, beach house, matt & kim, etc etc) & just put out their debut album i’m having fun now. we wish the album ft more of indie darling jenny (& less of her bf! — the jenny-heavy “big wave” remains our favorite song from the album), but they make a nice pair. below you can catch one of our favorite songs off the album, the rollicking folksy ditty (w jenny on harmony-duty) “committed.”

Heyyyy guys! So tomorrow in LA is the FYF Fest at Los Angeles State Historic Park. If you are in the LA area you definetly need to be there cause the lineup, pictured above, is pretty fucking stellar. Pigeons and Planes is partnering up with Sidral Mundet to throw a twitter party in honor of the FYF Fest. What is a twitter party? Last night I posted a new track by 16 year old rapper Chris Martin. Just now on Twitter (follow me) Intuition (follow him too) sent over this video of another 16 year old rapper that goes by the name of Earl Sweatshirt. This kid is on some twisted, toxic, obscene shit, but even if that’s not your style, you gotta admit Earl can spit. He has a sick, venomous way with words. Check more out on http://oddfuture.com/. Earl is the half bro of Tyler the Creator, who I heard about a while ago. From what I remember, he dissed a bunch of big hip-hop blogs and got blacklisted. His shit is pretty nasty though. Check out a video from him below.

Y’all are in for a real treat when this album is released on October 12th. I won’t say more until we write a proper review, but their harmonies will sound luscious in a HearYa Live Session during their Chicago visit. I’ve seen the band thrice (in San Francisco, Austin, and Atlanta) and they deliver the goods. If you’re a fan of alt-country, Seattle’s Moondoggies are a no-brainer.

EMI has announced the release of Gimme Some Truth, a Deluxe 11 CD set that includes remastered and unreleased material from John Lennon slated for release on Oct. 5th. Overseen by Yoko Ono, the release commemorates Lennon’s 70th birthday on Oct 9th.

B.o.B’s “Magic” single is, as MTV Buzzworthy notes, a “feel-good” party of a track”. The video plays into that, showing Bobby and Rivers Cuomo performing at a house party and goofily dancing around with girls in a bedroom, but something about all the Adidas product placement throws me off.

I don’t have a huge issue with product placement – I mean shit, if Bob can make a few extra bucks by wearing Adidas shoes, then go for it, but this is overkill. The song was already featured in that corny commerical, and this video features a barrage of Adidas placements that has me thinking more about marketing than music.
